In April I was repairing a 2004 Toyota Tundra Double Cab pickup. I needed several parts and posted an Internet parts request that S&J Auto Parts responded to claiming to have the parts that I needed. I called and was given the pricing information and. I proceeded to ask many questions regarding the donor vehicle that the parts were coming from. I had at this point done extensive searching on my own for parts and I had discovered that a Double Cab had very limited parts interchange. I wanted to ensure that I was ordering the correct parts the first time. I was told that the parts were in stock and the correct ones. I placed my order and noticed the initial charge on my credit card the next day. No issue so far, but over two weeks went by and I had no parts and was never given a tracking number even after numerous requests. I called and spoke with an S&J staff member and they again told me that the parts were on the way and coming from Iowa. I told the S&J person that I need a tracking number or I would consider the order cancelled. They assured me that I would have the number by close of business that day. Again I never heard from anyone. The next day I had a suspicion that I knew where the Iowa parts were coming from, so I called the salvage yard in Iowa that I had previously spoken with and discovered that those parts had been purchased buy S&J. I was correct and that is the place that they brokered the parts through, however it was the wrong parts. That is why I did not buy them there when I found them initially. This yard had a 2003 Access Cab. I had already checked this vehicle and there was no interchange on the parts that I needed. I informed the man not to ship that wiring harness it was the wrong one. He responded that S& J had purchased it and he was shipping it! That is when I initially disputed the $528.50 worth of charges on my credit card. The charges later reappeared on my credit card. I was told there was a 60 day limit to work it out or something.
The bottom line is that I told S&J to cancel the order and I told S&J's representative in Iowa not to ship the parts. Both ignored my request. At this point I received the useless parts and they sat in a box until S&J staff called me. I told them I would gladly return the parts when I received a return shipping label. I shipped the carton back as soon as the label came. I have the label receipt and the UPS tracking document showing delivery of the package. All I want is my money back. S&J currently has my money ($528.50) for product that was returned. I have also sent this information to S&J via registered letter. I have filed with their Better Business Bureau (which they have been expelled for excessive complaints)
Needless to say, I am very dissatisfied with the lack of response on this issue. I have called a dozens of times over that last months and have been transferred to voicemail box after voicemail box with no return phone calls. I did manage to get a lady on the phone 11/1 who told me may refund was credited on 10/17 (not true, I called the credit card company). I still seem to be no closer to a resolution so that is why I have decided to post on this site. I am currently exploring my options from a legal perspective.
I hope that others can read these postings ahead of time and forego the pain and aggregation of corrupt business practices. If I ever receive a refund I'll post my result on this site for follow up.
