I bought a used 2000 Plymouth Neon with 87,000 miles from Faulk Motor in July. I was charged $11,011.92 and a 17%interest rate through the finance company. The total for the vehicle after I paid it off would have been $14,686.56. Less then 30 days later I was on my way to NYC to see my dad whom had just had a biopsy for prostate cancer, and was pushed off the road (I-95) by another vehicle. The outcome was that my precious Neon was totalled. After the appraiser went to see the vehicle from my insurance company and the fair market value of the vehicle was researched the insurance company cut Charlie Faulk a check for the current fair market value of the vehicle $4,500. I called the sales man Paul and asked what the next step was.
He basically gave me a choice of either a broken down 1999 Neon with 120,000 miles, screechy belts, a jumpy engine, and obvious accident damage to the rear fender with NO warantee or guarantee at all basically AS IS, for tyhe exact same monthy payment that I was paying for my fully loaded luxury 2000 Plymouth Neon. Or I could take a stock 2000 Dodge Neon for over $400 a month with a longer loan term. I asked if he had any other vehicles in the 4 or 5 other lots that are owned by Faulk Motors, he answered no. That he was doing ME a favor, and if I wanted to have a 6,000 plus balance and no car to go right ahead. They offered no other options in vehicles, he basically said either I take the '99 Neon and run the risk of it breaking down once I left the lot or nothing!
