I have a 1990 Mecury Cougar that had a problem with the idle speed. It wouldn't idle down, so I called Bert's and asked if they could help me. I was told they could do a diagnostic on it for $71.00. I said ok and took it in. They called the next day and told me it was the computer in the car, which is the main brain. I don't think they were counting on a woman knowing anything about cars, which I do, especially sensors. I just knew it was the IAC or the TPS. Oh no they told me I was wrong. I just didn't feel like they were being honest with me so I went across the street to O'Reilly's and bought a Chilton's manual. Lo and behold it pointed to sensors as I thought. They wanted to charge me $425.00 for what ended up costing me $60.00! Talk about a ripoff!
