J & J Towing stalks restaurants near the University of Texas with the express intent to tow college student vehicles. My son and his date arrived at the Jack in the Box located at 2552 Guadalupe and stopped for a drink. They then went nearby to shop for some clothes. Within 20 minutes of leaving the Jack in the Box, J & J Towing came into the parking lot and towed the car away without going into the restaurant to check if any of the patrons had their car outside. They simply hooked up the car and towed it away.
As a result these college kids had to pay $131.09 to get their car that evening. The manager at Jack in the Box denied calling the towing company and said J & J Towing cruises the parking lot looking for cars to tow. One interesting factor is that school is not in session and there were 18 parking spaces available. The driver that actually towed the car said to me that his job was to drive around looking for cars to tow away. He would not say whether he went into the restaurant to see if the owner had been present. There is a sign that states it is a tow away zone for those not dining, however, it was after school hours, UT was not in session and there were substantially all spaces available and my son and his date were customers of the establishment.
Please do not use J & J Towing and do not ever eat at this Jack in the Box!
