Ripoff scam bad credit bait and switch lose portion of deposit

My credit report came back. It wasn't good. Needless to say I wanted to leave, but the salesman continued to introduce me to other people whom he felt could help me in my situation. They all talked a mean talk.

I was interested in a particular car but the dealer tried to talk me into a cheaper vehicle with obvious body damage, no radio, and high milage. He told me I had to come up with an additional $800 deposit if I wanted to purchase the other car. I did not have the additional money. Yet the game continued for eight long hours. I almost settled, and did give RK a $2300 deposit for the beat-up car.

After realizing I was settling for something I did not want — and which I would mostly likely regrete, I asked for my deposit back. Well, another salesman walked into the office and worked some magic. Lo and behold he arrived at an affordable deal even joking to me that he would pay me for my time. He would absorb half of the $800. I was happy, yet extremely spent and fatigued. I just wanted to go home.

All sorts of papers were shoved in front of me. I read some, and some were also explained. Realizing I signed a "pending credit approval" agreement, I asked what it meant. I was assured it was just a formality. Naturally, it was a formality.

During the past two weeks I received a few calls from the salesman inquiring if everything was stisfactory. I received two letters from RK Toyota thanking me for my business as well. The credit rejection notices began to arrive.

On Moday, while at work I received a call from the salesman. He said that I needed to stop by and sign more papers. My response, "I thought I signed all the papers two weeks ago." "Hold on I'll check, " was his response. I was informed Joni needed to speak to me. When Joni needs to speak to someone it is always important. Tah dah, aka credit manager.

When I arrived at RK nobody could tell me what was going on. Forty-five minutes later I was shuffled into Joni's office whereby I was informed that RK could not get credit approcal for me from their bank, and I signed a document that stipulated RK could take the car from me right there on the spot. I was stunned. Joni gave me a few options:

1) Come up with an additional $2000 and I could remain in the car. How long though?
2) Get a co-signer. Nothing more was explained oher than my co-signer had no credit history, and therefore could not be used.
3) Buy here, pay here (In House Financing) applied only to a cheaper car. However, I would have only eighteen month terms. Thus, my payments would double the agreed to payment plan.
4) I can get a refund. However, Joni neglected to inform me that a huge fee would be deducted.

Four and a half hours later, and many phone calls, I was brought out to view the "other" beat-up vehicle viewed two weeks ago. The salesman gleefully stated, "This vehicle is yours." That went over like a lead balloon. The salesman threw his hands up in the air and walked back to the showroom. I waited outside until he came out. He re-explained my options. He told me he wanted a $2000 check from me in which he could hold for thirty days. Clarification please. "Do you mean that you want me to post date a check — which I do not have funds to cover, so you may cash it at specific date? That's illegal, " I responded.
"Well, no. I need something that I can hold onto, " was his response. Nope, I'm not playing that game, thank you. The salesman told me he's give me a few days to come up with $2000.

Imagine that! Two weeks from now how much more money would I need to come up with until I ehausted a $4300 deposit? There is a reappraisal fee, which nobody can tell me exactly how much I stand to lose.

It's a scam folks. If you are attempting to re-establish credit stay away from RK Toyota.

I sold my other car, and am without transportation to and from work. I have no other funds to purchase elsewhere. RK Toyota knows this. Yes, they got me. I am stuck in a hopeless situation. Learn from my experience.

Remember, RK Toyota wants YOU to be happy. A satisfied customer is their asset, only make sure you can receive credit approval elsewhere.
