Rip-off won't refund for incompetent work done for a TUNE-UP!

I recently had a problem with my car not running right, then the check engine light came on, after running diagonstics, it was a simple fix, get a tune-up. I inquired with 3 garages before going to Pep Boys and went there because they were the only company who could fix my car on the day off I had.

I was told they would have my car done by 8 pm and it was 5 pm well at 920 pm my 2 year old and I were paying the bill and went to leave. The car was worse than before it had any work done. It shuddered it was so bad!

I was told by their "mechanic" it was still misfiring meaning something else is wrong with my engine I need to bring it back, but it isn't any worse than before. That was a lie. My car never shuddered or shook in reverse before and went faster than 45 mph.

I was afraid to drive it farther because I didn't want to damage my engine worse since it was so bad. I took it to another garage for a second opinion, and they weren't going to look at it till they saw how bad it was misfiring and that should've been fixed with the tune-up so they checked the wires and found that the wires were crossed.

A competent mechanic wouldn't have made these mistakes. They were cheap wires without the locks that FORD has on their plug wires, and they put the cheapest plugs in even though I specified I wanted Double Platinum plugs. After the wires were put on right by the kindness of this other mechanics heart who didn't charge me either, my car was fine.

No other mechanical problems or engine problems as Pep Boys assured me there were. I called the next day asking if I could receive a refund for part of the work done on my car since it was done improperly and was told that wouldn't be a problem bring the paper work in from the other garage.

I went in today and the service manager stood there to my face telling me he never said such a thing, and I didn't know what i was talking about, if there was a problem I should've come back. After reading the thousands of complaints on the internet I am glad that I had enough sense to take it somewhere else and get it looked at, or I am sure a thousand dollars later, I would have done the same thing.

It seems such a shame that they cannot own up to their own incompetence and in my opinion should be banned from doing work on anyone's car in the future as they cannot hire competent employees who try to cheat honest people. I will not stop till I get my money back.

The manager wondered why i was a little mad and started yelling at the top of my lungs how incompetent they were as I was leaving the store to call their 1-800 and start the complaint battle and showed everyone the paperwork showing their incompentence and how bad of a job they did. I will boast it over the internet, and mail as many fliers as I can letting others know better than to go, and have told everyone I meet to not have work done there.

I hope America will learn about the poor service of this company. Also maybe someone can let me know is there someone else to get in touch with other than the "Area District Managner" who as I was told "Has the final say as to what I get back if anything" seems hard to believe there would only be two people in that company to handle situations like this.
