Truly scumball sales tactics

In August we went to look at a 2000 VW Cabrio at this dealership. Immediately we were taken by suprise as they don't put window stickers on their cars and the saleswoman (Hannah) wasn't able to tell us the price. We drove the car anyways and did like it. The games began once their sales manager (Dan Browning... True scumball) started dealing with us.

We explained that we didn't want to trade-in but eventually they convinced us that we should at least allow them to appraise my wifes car. We eventually gave them the keys and registration and let them look it over. They finally gave us a price on the car which was $6000 above the KBB price (nearly the price the 4 year old car originally sold for when it was new) and offered to take my wife's car (1997 Acura Integra) for $1200... I let them know that we would be leaving unless they gave us a price more in line with KBB and took the trade off the table since KBB on that was $6400.

Played good cop/bad cop for a long time and got them to $2000 above KBB which was still ridiculous in my opinion. Finally told them that we'd be leaving and asked for our keys back... They told us that we couldn't have them back because we hadn't negotiated in good faith.instead brought us another offer, which was about $1800 too high. I told them no again and again asked for keys. They then brought in another manager to tell us how good of a price this was. I told them that I knew what the car was worth and asked this manager for our keys and he said that he'd get them. He told us that KBB was wrong because it was hot outside!!! We then waited for 45 minutes and as the employees started to leave for the night, they brought us another offer which was within $100 of the offer we just rejected. Again we told them no. Finally (2 hours after we first asked for them) they allowed us to get our keys back and leave.

They should be shut down for essentially holding us hostage as they did. I have bought 20 cars and never dealt with scumballs like this before.

Finally bought a 2001 Cabrio GLX (higher trim level and a year newer) from Dick Hannah in Vancouver. Got the car certified through VW all for $1200 less than their best price on a car a year older/8k more miles and lower trim level. Sold the Acura myself through Autotrader to the second person who looked at it for $6200 ($5k more than their offer).

Do yourself a favor and avoid this dealership.
