Failed to disclose that the Spare Wheel AND spare tire were NOT the same on a $35,000 Explore

When I purchased my new Explorer 8/9/04, part of the sales process was a discussion on maintainence of the new vehicle, including the rotation of the spare into the "mix" of tires / wheels, as to extend the total mileage of the set of raised white letter tires.

Upon my first service appt, I was told that the WHEEL was not the same as the other 4 & that I would NOT be able to put the spare into the rotation. My salesman, TO HIS CREDIT, made "arraignments with his boss" to pull the tire from the spare wheel & remount it on one of the 4 wheels already in use, AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO ME FOR MOUNTING THE TIRE. While not a happy camper, I accepted the offer.

3000 miles later, I go for my 2nd service appt. I get there, explain to the service manager the issue with the WHEEL & he shows me on the computer system that the above "arraignment" was duly noted.

2 hours later, I receive a phone call from the service dept that they CANNOT put the spare tire on one of the current set of wheels, because the TIRE is NOT the same make, model or raised white letters.

I feel I was lied to in that no one disclosed to me 2 months ago that they would not be able to live up to the "agreement" that was offered to me by my salesman, because, surely SOMEONE knew that the tires would not match.

I will become this dealership's worst public relations nightmare.
