Ripoff ruined my engine during repair left gasket debris in engine oil pan

On 10-20-03, I took my 1999 Dodge Ram truck to a (five star) Dodge Dealer in Wichita, KS. They were to trouble shoot an oil consumption problem.

Curtis Hicks said the intake belly pan gasket had failed and needed to be replaced. I ageed to repairs. Some time during that repair, small sticks, leaves, gasket material and carbon like balls got into the oil pan.

The materials were sucked up into the oil pump pickup screen restricting the flow of oil to engine. When I took a trip to Roswell, NM, on 2-13-03, I noticed a significant drop in oil pressure.

When I slowed vehicle down or stopped, oil pressure dropped to zero causing light and bell to go off. I immediately turned truck off, too check the engine oil at dip stick and it showed full. This occurred 5 times.

The mechanics in town were busy. I towed the truck to my brother-in-law's garage in Clovis, NM. After dropping the oil pan and checking out the problem, Fred called me to tell me what he had found. It was the debris I mentioned above.

I told Fred to put the truck back together and save what he found on the pick up screen and put it in a cup and I would show it to Steven Chrysler after I got back to Wichita. I had talked to Wayne Short, the service manger for Steven Chrysler and he had assurred me that if it was something that they had failed to do correctly that they would repair it at no cost to me.

After Steven Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Inc. Looked at the truck, they said they had done nothing wrong. They took no responsibility and made me feel as thought I had put the debris in my truck. "What would I gain by doing this to my own vehicle and ruining the engine"? This truck has only 68,000 miles on it!

Of course, I was appalled with them not taking responsibility and told them to put my vehicle back together again and I would take other measures to get my truck fixed.

I have written various letters to various places, including the Chrysler Corperation, to no avail. It seems no one wants to make good on their mistake. I just want my truck to be fixed to my satisfaction. It has been parked for a year and I'd like to drive it again.

I trusted the dealer to fix my truck because they are the professionals and know their jobs. However, why should I trust them now? They don't make good on their mistakes.

Their slogan, Steven Chrysler-Plymouth Five Star Service. It's Better - We'll Prove it! I am still waiting for them to "prove it to me"!
