I attempted to purchase a car from Alford Motors. I test drove 4 or 5 vehichles until I found one that I liked. The owner drove the car first to make sure that it was okay before I test drove it. I was then told they were about to close shortly and try and limit my test drive. I inspected the car, and was concerned about white thick smoke coming from the tailpipe. He replied that the smoke was just "condensation" and not to worry about it. The car was a good car and runs goods.
I purchased the car, and drove off the lot. I went across the street to purchase gas, and before I could make it to the next street the car cut off. It did this 3 more times before I could get to the end of the street and then proceeded to start smoking. Toatally alarmed that the car was going to blow up, I parked the car and waitied a little bit to see if the car would stop smoking. It didnt. I had to walk my 4 year old daughter in the cold to our home and come back for the car.
I awoke the next morning and called them as soon as they opened. I informed the manager that the car didnt even make it down the street and that I didnt want to start off paying for a car and having to fix it up and it hadnt even been 24 hours. I explained I did not want this car as there was something seriously wrong with it. He refused to put me in another vehichle, and said they would come tow the car and try and fix it that upcoming Monday. I expressed my dissatisfaction in his resolution becuase I had just given my money the day before, and now I had no car. I also told him that he shouldnt sell defective cars and it defeats the whole purpose of buying a car if you cant even drive it. They came and towed the car, and now after giving up my money, I am out of a down payment and a car.
