I got indebted with a car with a bogus interest rate after I was reapetedly lied too. I went into this dealership thinking I had done all my homework.
I was asking the dealer question after question. I decided to trade in my old car. The salesman offered to buy back my car for $3,000. I was pretty hesitant to make any deal since I was not very comfortable with my Financial Situation. To try to make me feel at ease The Salesman "A. K". Told me that $ 2,000.00 could go towards my down and he would give the $1,000.00 back so that i could put down on my wifes car. He also offered to give me $ 1,500.00 "cash back" so that I could use that money to help out with my monthly payments. This sounded great.
I started to trust A.K. He assured me my interest rate would be for 6 percent. He also offered to give me 60 dollars in gas, and provide floor mats that were missing. I thought I made the greatest deal.
After papers where signed I was told that my interest rate was going to be 17 percent because i was a first time car buyer. (this was the first of a string of lies.) I began to feel uncomfortable. He tried to reasure me by telling me that it was only for 6 mos. And that after i could refinance to 6 percent. He gave me 30 dollars in gas to leave the lot and would give me the rest along with my floor mats upon the loan going through.
A week later the bank informed me that my interest rate would be 18 percent instead of 17 percent. I went to the dealer reapetedly (i was becoming a familiar face) to pick up my two checks, gas tickets, and mats.
A.K. Told me if I could cut him some slack on the gas tickets and reluctantly i did. I asked about my floor mats and he said that he did not remember that part of the deal. I pushed him to remember and finally he did. He then "ordered them" and said it would cost the company $180.00 and that they were no losing money on me. About my 2 checks, they were not in.
I came in once in a while to see the status on my mats and checks and now it seemed like A.K. Was trying to avoid me.
I came in one day unexpectedly to see i could catch A.K. I asked for my checks and mats. He was now trying to give mats from other vehicles. But that was nothing compared to him telling me that i was only getting 1 check. He basically told me he was sorry for me not understanding. I was pissed! I argued with him of how he clearly told i would be getting 2 checks for the amount of 2500 but to no avail.
I knew i was screwed because i had nothing in writing. So before I left I made him sign me a paper stating that he was to provide floor mats. I felt very stupid because i thought i had done my homework and I got robbed. I write this to you because these type of 'people' should not be doing this to hard honest working people. As a result of this i have learned a lot and i will never ever by a car from a dealer again. I am open to any feed back i can get to give A.K. What he deserves in terms of the law.
