Bill Campbell sold me a used car on May. He said the car was in perfect mechanical condition, that the prior owner was elderly and could no longer drive and that he had been the mechanic for the prior owner. Turns out to be false. Prior owner, who still drives, sold the car to Campbell on April. Bill of Sale between them says: car sold "due to necessity for major mechanical work on the car" a blown head gasket.
Campbell did not register or pay DMV fees, and fraudulently passed them on to me. He presented me with a Lien Sale Certificate, signed by him under penalty of perjury. DMV made me pay for two prior years registration fees. Took 3 weeks to register. Then engine light came on multiple times, and a day after Campbell said the problem was fixed, the engine blew.
Campbell refused a refund, and I had to get an attorney who discovered the fraud, etc. (Lien sale was phony because it showed $2,700 in storage fees due but it was Campbells car. Just a trick to evade registration and making me pay for his fees.)
