Living Social is heartless and doesn't care if you have a dying family membe

These people are heartless!
As a nice gesture and surprise, I bought a LS voucher, 7 nights for 2 people at a AAA Diamond Resort in Maui for me and my boyfriend thinking we could finally have a chance to relax and go on a vacation which neither of us have done for more than 5 years. I had to borrow money from friends in order to pay for this and have now finally just paid them all back. I do not make a ton of money and have been in charge of taking care of my dad off and on so to go on a vacation takes a lot of planning.
Anyway, apparently LS has a policy that when you buy their "Escapes" you have 30 days to request a refund.
I bought this voucher on Oct. 18. On Nov. 19, I take my father to the doctor for a check up. We get terrible news that he must go into surgery the following month and will need constant care and supervision. I am the only family member who can take care of my father and we cannot afford a nurse to come live with us.
I contact LS on Nov. 20 telling them of this situation and if they can make an exception due to this situation and to please refund my money since I will not be able to go as I must take care of my father full-time. Their response is "no" but I can "gift" it or receive a credit once the promotional deal expires.
Are you kidding me??? I am just going to give away $2500 to someone? Or receive a "credit" to a resort which I could not afford otherwise?
I have contacted them since their initial response, but have not heard back. I even called and told them the entire story again, but was given the same response.
Seriously, Living Social? You cannot make ONE exception? MY FATHER IS DYING. I will never use this company again and plan to terminate all business with them in the future. I am seriously considering legal action and will continue to pursue to get a refund.
This company is heartless. Do not buy anything from them. They do not care about you or if you have a dying family member.
