Admits Employee Fraudulently Charged My Debit Card, Won't Reimburse Me! Ripoff

One morning I went through the drive through at McDonald's and got a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Value Meal. I paid using my Visa debit card which comes directly out of my checking account. The total was $3.35. I signed the receipt, handed it back to the clerk, received my food at the second window and drove off to work. I thought nothing of it.

The next day I was looking at the transactions online on my checking account. I noticed the McDonald's transaction for $3.35 and one on the same day for $5.00. I immediately became bothered and found the copy of my receipt in wallet. It was only for $3.35.

I called McDonald's immediately and asked to speak to the manager. I explained the situation and they referred me to the accounting department. I spoke to a woman there who was immediately defensive. After a few hours, she found the receipts which she claimed that I signed and said the signatures looked identical. I asked her why I she would think that I had to purchases one minute apart and why would I have had a purchase for exactly five dollars. She said I could have easily just been buying gift certificates.

After calling her three times, she finally faxed me copies of the receipts. The $5.00 receipt was obviously not my signature. It looked completely shaky and different from my signature. After arguing with her on the phone for a while, she finally admitted that it didn't look like my signature and said that she would find out who was on the cash register at that time and investigate further. I told her that I wanted my five dollars back. She took my number and said she would call me back.

After calling time after time and leaving several messages, my calls were never returned and my debit card was never reimbursed. I finally gave up because I decided all this energy wasn't worth the $5.00, it was just the fact that I felt so violated that some stupid McDonald's worker would charge my card twice and sign my name. I can't believe they thought I would be so stupid to not check my transactions out of my own checking account. I'll never eat at mcdonald's again!!!
