It was bad enough that getting what you order at McDonald's was a virtual impossiblity and filing a complaint with the Corporate office got absolutely no response, but now they're advertising special promotions that aren't really available.
In the Kansas City market, McDonald's advertised free iced coffe Mondays. On Monday morning I set out to get mine (okay, and maybe a bacon, eg and cheese biscuit too). Much to my dismay, the first McDonald's I went to told me they weren't offering the free iced coffee. Off to the next McDonald's. And the next. And the next (by now I was on a mission). After not finding free iced coffee at any ofthe FIVE McDonald's I visited, I went to my favorite Denny's for breakfast (THEY don't offer iced coffee, but made me one anyway). I contacted McDonald's Corporate and was told that they we 80% franchise and had no control over their franchise operations. Working for a franchised business myself, I know that Corporate has more control than what this lady wanted to admit.
McDonald's offered $1 Big Macs if the Kansas City Chiefs won. Again, you couldn't find a McDonald's honoring the promotion. Why bother to advertise a special if none of your stores has to honor it?
The sausage and egg biscuit is on the $1 menu. If you want cheese on it, add another $1.49! If you want coffee instead of soda with your value meal, you can't get it. If you want a $1 menu item, you have to buy a value meal. These are just a few examples of the rip-offs in the Kansas City area McDonald's. But of course, these are franchise stores and Corporate has no control over what they do.
I realize that these are small issues compared to the greater wrongs in this world. But if McDonald's lies about such small things, what else are they lying about. McDonald's has gotten too big for their own good. If they really have no control over their franchise operations, what exactly is in those hamburgers?
McDonald's, if you are going to advertise it, offer it! And not just in a few stores — all of them. When I need garbage for breakfast, I will go somewhere else. McDonald's may not miss my money, but I have a big mouth and will tell anyone and everyone that will listen that McDonald's LIES and to boycott them.
