In late August I got a job at the Blue Bunny / Wells Dairy ice cream factory via a temp agency. I quickly noticed as I began working there, another employee named Fiso began talking to me quite frequently and we had toalways beworking in close quarters together. I was 22 years old at the time.
Fiso, I noticed became very sexual in nature when he would talk to me. He would be subtle about it and told me I was only good for one thing. I was very upset but extremely embarrassed by his behavior. I blew it off, however, he started groping me and touching me inappropriately as he'd walk by. He slapped my behind several times and I asked him to stop. He even became abusive verbally telling me that I was stupid and started losing his temper with me. I never once gave him the notion that I was interested, and I told himthat I had a boyfriend. Ofcourse he did not care.
I finally began to complain. I talked to the HR manager name Chris on approx 14september. She was a female and said that she would help me and she seemed genuinely concerned. I finished out my day that day and I went to work the next day. I noticed that Fiso would not even look at me at work and I noticed that the manager over our floor named Mark, was acting very strangley as well. I finished out that day and as soon as I went home from work, the temp agency that I was working through called to say that the company no longer needed me.
"Well thats funny" I said " because yesterday I complained to them about being sexually harrassed" and the receptionist said they'd look into it. She followed up with me and said that the HR manager told them they let me go because I wasn't learning as fast as the others. However, when I asked what was being done about the sexual harrassment that was done against me, they said they were still looking into it and would call me.
5 years later, I have heard countless stories about the same factory with women being sexually mistreated or harrassed there. This is a warning to you women that live in so. Utah: PLEASE DO NOT WORK FOR BLUE BUNNY! I heard through the grapevine that Fiso was still working there a year later and laughed about how he had gotten off the hook.
I don't want this to happen to anyone else. This company will not protect you in any way if you are mistreated. I don't know what else I could have done but got an attorney that I couldn't afford and humiliate myself by telling more strangers about what this man did to me. I wrote to the "head honchos" of the company, tried calling them with no response. I have had people tell me that I just want money. I just don't want anyone to be treated that way or be embarrassed the way I was. I don't want anyone to sweep you under the rug like I was. I am grateful it didn't go any further. Please think before you work for blue bunny.
I will also write a report against express personel (temp agency) because I think they are just as guilty for not helping me and making sure this didn't happen to anyone else working for them! Its just not right!
