Rude, over-charged, outrageous prices for valet and added tip to bill when it was bad service

I visited Casa Casuarina on 2/11/09 for dinner and drinks. I always wanted to see what the Versace Mansion looked like on the inside and wanted to treat myself to a nice but short evening in South Beach.

When we arrived, we decided to valet the car. I have been to other restaurants all over the U.S. That if you are a patron of their establishment, they would comp your valet or discount it for an amount.

The diningroom was crowded at the time of arrival so we decided to sit at the bar in the meantime. We were a party of four (4) but with two (2) checks so my bill was for a party of two (2). I had a simple order of two vodka and cranberry's and the waitress had to come back not once, but twice to ask me what I had ordered and when she finally got it, the drink was weak to say the least.

The bill for two (2) drinks was $30.72! And then the tip was included for almost $7.00! That is outrageous when the waitress was more less than adequate on her services. I have been told that Florida is not allowed to add a tip on the bill, unless there are certain circumstances and usually that means a party of more than 6 or more and since this was just a party of two (2), then that circumstance does not apply,

I understand I was in South Beach but those prices were outrageous and then to top it off, the valet was $20.00 and they didn't even get our car for us when we left. They just gave us our key to get the car ourselves!

After this less than memorable evening, I contacted the General Manager of the facility via email and telephone and was not given a courtesy response. I then contacted the Public Relations Director who did not acknowledge my email or phone call either.

I then requested the head boss's contact information and the person who answered the phones, was more than helpful in giving me his email address. I sent him an email with the attached emails I sent to the G.M. And asked politely for a response. He did respond back to me but instead of being apologetic or even polite, belittled me and was very harsh in his response.

Whatever happened to THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT or Customer Service? Is this was has happened to our Society? In this day and age with the way the economy is going, I expected more.

I am writing this to let others know and speak my mind about this. While it was a beautiful establishment, unless you want to get ripped off and treated like a peasant because you don't have a billion in your bank account, I would say go to the bar down the street if you are in South Beach!
