We went to Ruby Tuesday for dinner with our longtime friends, another retired couple, to celebrate a health recovery.
We were served by an overly enthusiastic young man who, in his confusing and deceptive explanation of the menu, gave us incorrect "specials" information. During the evening he downright lied to us about a few items, touting them as free.
Bottom line is, because of us believing this waiters menu misinformation and lies, we all ordered items that were not covered by the "specials". This, along with the inflated waiters tip (the motivation for the confusing "smoke and mirrors" act) and the higher sales tax, created an excessively high check, way beyond our expectations..!
I calculated we were overcharged about $30 dollars for the menu items alone, along with the excessive tip and tax. I went back next day and discussed the overcharge with the manager. I was not looking for free meals, just a reasonable adjustment, like a gift card, to compensate for the overcharge. No such adjustment was made.
Thinking I may not have explained the situation well, I composed a clear letter
and sent it to the Ruby Tuesday manager. To date I have not heard from the restaurant.
