I am so dissapointed with the dishonesty shown by this particular store that I'll never return to another Jack In The Box again. This store is located at 509 South Cumberland Street in Lebanon, TN. I have never complained about any business before like this, but I feel so offended at this point.
My children and I went throught the drive - thru at this store about two weeks ago, and I'll never forget the rudness or the hatefulness with which I was shown.
On July 10 the three of us decided to get our lunch at Jack In The Box and carry it home and watch a movie together. We ordered our food, which the total came out to be $14.39. We made our way to the window, and I paid with a $20.00 dollar bill, as I only had two twenties and a hundred dollar bill on me, and no smaller bills. The man at the window gave me our drinks and our food. Then he shut the window.
I waited for him to return, expecting that his drawer might have been out of change, or that he was working off a drawer at the front counter instead of the drive thru drawer. We waited several minutes before a young lady came to the window and told us our total would be $XX. Xx. I told her we were wating for our change, and that I'd already been given my food. She became very rude, and told me I was causing their "times to go up." I asked to speak to the man who had been at the window a moment ago. He then walked up to the window and said "what?" I explained that he had not given me my change for my order. He told me I was a liar, that he had given me my money, and told me I needed to get a job, and slammed the window.
I stayed at the drive - thru until he finally opened the window and told me that he was calling the police on me. I told him that was fine, that I'd happly wait for them to come. He said that I had my change, and was not getting anything from him. I opened my wallet and showed him that I had no bills smaller than a twenty, and only had $0.12 cents in the change area of my wallet. He said he saw me put it in my purse. I aksed him to count down his register if he really thought I was lying, he said he would not, becaused he did have to and didn't have the time. I told him I had no money in my purse, and the only money that I had on me was what was in my wallet. He then looked and my son (who was sitting in the back seat of my car behind me) and said "your mom's trying to steal from my store and you're all going to be arrested." At that point I asked to speak with the manager, he told me he was the only manager. I told him to call the police and that I would pull up to the front of the store. He said I was banned from returning and he would file a no - tresspassing warrent. I pulled my car up to the front of the store and called the police myself.
The man from the drive - thru never came out, and while on the phone with the police they said it would be a while before they could have a officer come to me because they were very busy with some serious wrecks. The dispatcher told me that I could come up to the police station and wait for an officer, and that she felt I should not stay in the parking lot of the Jack In The Box, because "if that man will talk like that to your child, no telling what he might come out and say or do."
I drove to the police station and waited one and a half hours to speak with an officer. A dispatcher came out and asked exactly what happened, I explained the incident to her. She told me that they were having a very busy day, and appologized about not having an available officer to come speak with me, but offered to send one by my house later if that was acceptable with me. I agreed and left my information with her.
About two hours later an officer came by and I explained what had happened, he said there wasn't much I could do with all the time that had gone by since it happened. He suggested I file this report here and let as many people know what happened as possible.
I was never given a reciept, so I can't even prove I was there that day but I will tell everyone I can about what happened, and how we were treated. I've tried to get in touch with the area manager with no success.
I still don't have my money, but that does not matter this is just plain bad business, and everyone needs to beware. Be careful if you decide to eat here, and count your change!
