I should have picked up on the cutsey name that this place would be wanting TRENDY, UPSCALE, HIP YOUNG RICH YUPPIE clientele and not want to serve an older person like me or the other two folks in our dinner party but WE WERE PAYING CASH and not some credit card...
It was in 1996 and we wanted a nice dinner and didn't want to eat at teh overtly racist and insulting Denney's even though we were two Native Americans and a Hispanic who are all light complected and well-dressed.in fact, we ere all in our security uniforms and looking for a great place to eat that was open 24/7 so we thought we would try this place in spite of teh Cutsey name.
BAD MISTAKE! I think our combined tab was $50 and the food we were served was all but inedible and we ALL got sick later., I think somebody thought we were real cops and put something in out food. Well we can't judge all of eh location bhy that one but I VOWED NEVER TO EAT AT THAT LOCATION AGAIN! RACISM? OR WAS IT BECAUSE WE HAD SECURITY UNIFORMS OR THEY THOUGHT WE WERE TOO LOW CLASS (SOCIOECONOMIC CASTE).
In spite of what they say about austin, texas, the entire place is becoming more elitist, sexist and racist and teh real estate developers want to rid downtown of all hispanic influence and only put in condos and places for rich people!
So in the first day of Spring Break, we got hungry and figured that we would try to eat at the University location of the Kerbey Lane cafe. Again, the
cutesy name bothered me and rang false in my ear but this time, NOBODY was wearing a uniform, we were just wearing business casual and waled in to wait for a hostess or host to seat us.
Younger people rudely charged ahead of us and cursed us for blocking the door. We waited from a clue for the Staff to tell us what to do, but they just ignored us if not turning up their nose at us and REFUSED TO SEAT US MUCH LESS WAIT ON US!
I guess the fact that one of us was legitimately disabled and we were parked in the disabled parking space with a genuiune disabled parking permit offended the damned yuppie demographic they were trying to attrach???
We ended up leaving, embarrassed, confused, hungry and ANGRY and the disabled lady with us was in tears and the servers and the customers at the KERBEY LANE CAFE thought it was funny apparently.
I hate the place and i am glad their newest location at balcones in the heart of yuppie country is having a problem staying staffed!
In fact, I hope these incredibly rude and horrible people who call themselves restauranuers GO BROKE!!!
Quite simpley, I HATE them!
