After 3 orders and a new Rep, I finally got the chance to ask the right questions and confirm my gut feeling that these prices were not just a bit higher due to the high quality of the meats, but highly overpriced.
I was told that my order totaled $1266. I noticed that the "point value" (Celebrity secret formula) on the Rep's paper was 4245. I divided to get a $ value per point, then calculated the $ value per pound of Boneless/skinless chicken breast: a whopping $15.89 a pound!
I questioned the Rep, whose (first) name I will protect because he, unlike my "regular, " Rep told me I was paying a percentage of my cost ("premium" was the word he used,) to purchase items out of their catalog over the long term (with interest?!) and unless I selected something, I was throwing that money away.
I sent him away saying I had to do some more figuring. I then added up the total pounds of meat. I divided my total order cost by this number, and found that I had been charged an average of $15 to $19 PER POUND of meat!
Why did I not clue in before? Because I, like the customers Celebrity targets, was TOO BUSY to make discerning choices, and trusted a company that is eager to part us fools and our money by all legal means.
