My family and I normally enjoy Oggie's pizza. Sometimes we dine in, but most of the time, we call in our order and pick it up. I ordered a pizza by phone and was told 30 or so munites. Great. I went into Oggie's Pizza and Brew Co, located in the Seacliff Shopping center in Huntington Beach, CA. I spoke with a friendly girl at the counter and gave her my name.
As she went to check on my pizza, I noticed ants on the counter when you order and pick up food. I brought it to the girls attention, but she just kind of laughed it off. I didn't want to make a big deal about it, but it was a turn off.
I purchased my pizza and drove home. I didn't tell my family about the ants, I just wanted to have dinner and not bring it up. Well, while having dinner, I was eating a slice and in my mouth, you know that feeling, you could just tell something was wrong. Baked into my pizza was about a 8 inch blonde hair.
We had just started eating, I got grossed out and so did my family. We only had 2 slices and one wasn't even half way finished. Dinner was ruined. I called Oggi's to complain, because after hair in my food, a ruining dinner, I felt I had to call.
What I got was some teenage guy who couldn't careless and told me that so many people walking through the kitchen, that things like this happen and then silence. No apologizes, nothing. The attitude was just bad and I was not impressed with his customer service skills at all.
We just threw away the pizza away and we were out the $12 we paid. It was less, because we used a coupon. I think anytime bugs are around food, it's a problem and I bet the health dept would agree with me. During my call, I asked for the manager and he told me he was the one in charge at the time. I highly doubt that, because managers at least try to make the customers happy and are more professional.
We use to eat there often and there were two older men that seemed to be running the show. They would stop by the table and ask if everything was OK. The teen, so called manager could have said " We'll make you another one, we're so sorry." But, Nothing. I was told that it happens and to basically accept it.
I found their main company website and sent a nice letter explaining what happened. The dinner was ruined, but I wanted to at least bring it to their attention and maybe they could correct the ant problem and maybe the careless customer service problem. I never got a reply from the main office. I saw little point in calling the teen manager back, too. I recently found their HB website, but again, a few months have past and I'm not going to go through the trouble to get $14 or so dollars back. I have told friends, neighbors and coworkers about my experience when it someone says "let's order pizza". It's too bad, it's a nice place, but if I don't trust the food or get good service, I don't eat there.
They had good food, but We'll never go back. If they have an ant problem, how do I know that's not getting baked into the food? If you see 3 to 5 ants, you know there are more some place. The girl should have brought it to the real manager's attention quickly, so they could have the place sprayed that night, not just laughed it off. Bad service! The so-called manager telling me to accept it... Bad service. If people are in the kitchen and working with food, they should be wearing hairnets and at least have the hair in a ponytail. We're never going back to Oggi's HB. The above story is true and all statements are fact.
