My husband went to Vaqueros for what he described as the worst mexican lunch he ever had in his life. The next morning I looked at our account online and saw that they had charged him twice for his meal. My husband printed out the online statement and took it to the restaurant to ask for a refund.
When he arrived and complained he was told that it must be our bank's fault. Knowing this was BS my husband suggested it might be the restaurant's bank's fault and that they investigate it. The owner stated he was too busy to do that and that he didn't care if my husband got his money back.
My husband decided to call the police right there to show he was serious. The owner then tried to shut my husband up by throwing $20 at him. My husband told him he didn't want anything more than a refund of the credit charge. The owner's girlfriend then started screaming at my husband that he was trying to steal from them.
I called the bank at that time and was informed by my bank that they did not put the additional charge on the account and that if I retrieved the phone number they would speak with the restaurant.
The police had already arrived and were backing the restaurant's claim that it was our bank's fault until I let him know that I had already spoken with the bank. The police officer retrieved the phone number from the owner.
I called the bank and gave them the number. They three wayed the call between us and the restaurant. The restaurant then stated that the owner was not there and we would have to call another time.
I called back later with the bank and they finally consented to having the bank reimburse us the extra charge but supplied no apologizes.
As I stated above, we don't want extra money or fringe benefits all we want is an apology for being treated like dirt and being accused of trying to rob someone who was robbing us.
