I bought a small coffee from D.D.in flushing main st (new york) and I've noticed that their small hot beverages come in paper cups, unlike medium/large ones which come in Styrofoam cups. The paper cup was just too hot for me to hold and it was dangerous since I was on the way down to the subway station. I asked the employee for a cup sleeve which is always hidden behind the counter so you HAVE to ask for it, and she gave it to me and when I put it on my small paper cup, it didn't fit: it was too big. Then it hit me, this happened the last time I asked for a cup sleeve at another Dunkin donuts franchise store. I immediately told the worker that the sleeve didn't fit and asked for a smaller one and she just answered back coldly, "we don't have one, that's it (the only size)". So i told her that I needed a sleeve since the drink was too hot and she didn't even seem to bother but just repeated what she said 5 seconds ago. My boyfriend who was standing next to me told the worker that she should give me an extra paper cup so that I could lessen the hotteness from the thin cup. The worker said "you have to pay extra (whatever cents she said i forgot)" and just stared back at us blankly and irritated. I was so baffled i just said "what? This cup is hot, i need a sleeve. And you're gonna charge me for that? You should have a sleeve for the small cup then!" she just ignored me completely and just kept repeated the extra charge that was going to come if i wanted the extra cup. What the heck?
DUNKIN DONUTS, if you want to be cheapskates, then why don't you just use a styrofoam cup for SMALL beverages too instead of a paper cup?!! You have cup sleeves which fits medium/large cups and not for small? Is this your trick to get customers to buy medium and large drinks? Not only that, your sly and deceiving sales strategy which coerces customers to "upgrade" their order to medium drinks IS SO ANNOYING. Stop it. STOP MAKING AMERICANS OBESE.
make cup sleeves for all size cups. Or stop serving hot drinks in paper cups.
Btw, you should know that styrofoam cups are not biodegradable so you're killing the earth with your cups.
