I deposited my payroll check, drawn on a local bank, on Nov. 1, after business hours. The funds were held for a total of 2 business days which cause my account to be overdrawn. On Nov. 2, I checked my account online and found 5 overdraft fees were incurred @ $34 each. On Nov. 3, I check my balance online and found an additional 3 fees @ $34 each was assessed, for a grand total of $272. With my payroll check I also deposited $145 cash.
I deposited a total of $1002.60, and $272 of that became someone elses payroll. There should be a limit set on overdraft fees, this bank is notorious for feeing it's customers to no end. I asked to have my payroll check deposited as cash to make the funds available and they now all of a sudden have a new "policy" that does not permit the teller to do so, and I'm sure it is so they can get away with assessing so many overdraft fees. I am fed up with this bank because this is not the first time this has happened.
This seems to happen every time I make a large deposit, for the last 6 months I have been charged a total of 20 overdrafts totaling $680.00. Shame on me for getting caught in the cycle of this bank. I am a single mother working full time to support her children and cannot afford to take and afternoon off to change banks, until now! At this rate of overdrafts, I can afford to take a week off with no pay and be further ahead. Please help!!!
