Throughout the year that I have had my Green Dot prepaid card, I have had to call and have transactions reversed six times. This last load will be the last load. On September 25, about 11:55 or so P.M. I loaded money to pre-order and reserve my daughter's birthday party with. Within the 3 minutes it took me to get home, the money was gone. I called first thing in the morning while they were still trying to use my card info online or where ever, and they told me they were closing my account, and when I get my new card and account, I could call back and then dispute the charges. I have been posting on their facebook, and they just respond with something that has nothing to do with what I am talking about. A Corporate Supervisor called and wanted to speak with me, but I was working over time to try and make back some of the money I still have yet to get back. I called only for them to tell me to call back on the 9th of October, after the charges have posted/processed as paid, and then I can start a dispute. It is illegal for a financial institute to allow a fraudulent charge to post after a complaint is made or a fraud claim is filed.
I am seeking advice from anyone who can help me. I am frustrated and after reading all of the posts on their facebook page from other consumers, I am curious why they are still in business. I ask people who work at the retail stores that sell this card, and every single one of them had a negative thing to say about them! I want legal action and do not know where to start except news media and small claims court. How funny that a "BIG" corporation like this will not allow you to load more than $500 at a time, because they do not want to be taken to civil court, they would rather keep it in small claims where they think they have a better chance of winning. If everyone comes together, we can start a class act law suit and show them we are done being taken advantage of.
