We newly movely to Fremont and called Chase Bank for availability of a Safe Deposit. The Paseo Padre branch confirmed availability and said that we should get their by 4:00 PM the same day and sign up. No pre-requisites or documents required. We postponed all our meetings and got there by 4:00 PM. We were existing business customers at Chase Bank.
Upon getting their, we were told - "Sorry" We have them available but will not give them out to you as they are reserved for our PREFERRED customers!" I told them that I did speak to one of their staff members who did gave us all the information and said that we have the Safe deposit available with no pre-requisites to fulfill - hence the Safe Deposit should be given to us!
The Branch Manager was very rude and completely refused because we are not their preferred customer. I even asked him if he wants us to close our bank account with them, based on the customer service he was offering. He didnt care, we felt very humiliated and insulted! It was clearly very discrimanatory that they were not willing to offer a safe deposit that was available to us - may be based on our race! Dont know!

We went and closed our account with the bank soon after!

But still am disturbed with the harassment / rude and discriminatory behavior by the Bank Manager - Ryan L. Jackson at Chase - 39395 Paseo Padre PKWY, Fremont, CA 94538.

Definitely want to put a word out - if that can prevent others to be harassed and humiliated as we were. Chase has the most POOR CUSTOMER SERVICES offered by any instiution!!!
