First off, I set up a ten year repayment plan with SallieMea upon completing my Associates degree in 06'. I have since paid about $8,000 on a $20,000 loan that is to this day still $20,000. How is this possible, today they told me I never set up a repayment plan and that when I went back to school in 09' for six months, full time, and deferred my loan I accrued $6,000 in interest! Interesting, yes, especially since I did go through a exit interview with my financial advisor and signed a 10 year repayment plan. SallieMea is dishonest, worse than a car sales man financing a car to someone with terrible credit. I've been raped and will end up paying $40,000 for my education. An education that earns me a salary of only $40k before taxes. Why is it that our society penalizes good behavior, those who pay and pay on-time, and reward those who are bad and chose not to learn, not to work, not to become successful?
Now, I must take out a private loan to payoff salliemea to stop paying pure interest. Salliemea is a scam.
