I was contacted at work by an individual that said I was being served a summons. I answered the phone, and an individual. (I was so scared I didn't get any names) said to contact the legal department and gave me a case number... And also said that if I didn't contact them (they said this was the second attempt, although this was the first I had heard of it) that I would be served within the hour, and that they would take me to jail. So I called the number, it was ACS, and got a lady who said I owed a payday loan, the loan is a legitimate loan, so this is why I was so scared. I had gone though a messy divorce, and didn't repay the loan, and was having some financial difficulties. She said I owed 3,000 dollars, and that I would be arrested for fraud, unless I paid the full amount today. I actually had a severe anxiety attack, thinking I was going to jail. I told her that there was no way I could pay that today. I had 400 dollars in my account, and that was going to pay my rent. Well she said the minimum that I could pay would be 450 dollars, and if I didn't pay it on the spot, the server would be at my place of employment to serve me AND my employer, and possibly arrest me. She was getting a little annoyed when I told her all I had is 400 dollars, and she said she had to talk to her boss. When she came back, she said, we will take the 400 and settle the debt for 2,000 dollars... (the original amount with interest I think was 2,500... And set up a payment plan of 187 dollars every two weeks... And if I didn't repay it I would be in contempt, and be prosecuted for fraud. So I gave her my bank card number and they took the 400 dollars, and she recorded me agreeing to the terms of the repayment. I think I screwed myself by agreeing to this, because when I got home and looked this company up on the internet, the computer almost blew up. The BBB gives them an F rating. The worst a business can get. And they are thousands of posts from individuals with the same issues I had with them.
