I have received a mail solicitation from CREDICORP INC, trying to convince me to believe I've been "PRE-APPROVED FOR A GOLD CARD MEMBERSHIP WITH A $10,000 CREDIT LIMIT VALID EXCLUSIVELY TOWARD ALL CREDIT PURCHASES FROM CREDIT PROVIDER."
"Why would a store selling consumer goods call itself Credit Provider? What exactly do they sell? Where are they located? Do they have a web site?" The answers to my questions were nowhere to be found in the very plain "$10,000 credit limit" But, if I would simply send CREDICORP INC $37.00 they would reveal my benefits included in my GOLD card. Why does a company ask for a check or money order instead of letting you throw the membership fee onto the charge card?
