I sent $1000 to American Express Membership Banking on March 1 in response to a mail promotion. To date I have heard nothing back concerning the whereabouts of my money or whether an account has been opened for me. I have tried to call the American Express "customer service" line repeatedly, but have never succeeded in getting through the hold queue despite waiting, in one case for more than 40 minutes. I e-mailed their customer service on the web, but have heard nothing back from them.
