I have always considered myself reasonably intelligent but with a child going to college this fall I was desperate to improve my credit in general and get a credit card... I have spoken to several companies that offer help in getting credit cards but Encore Financial was very polite... Note I am physically disabled at this time and living on limited funds. On the onset I wasnt too happy with paying a whopping 199.00 to Encore but they presented themselves as honest, pleasant and very helpful at first.
I - faxed them necessary info to process 2 they applied to a Visa Credit card company and gave them an incorrect birthdate (meaning not my correct birthdate even though they had the correct one) When I spoke with the Visa credit card company they told me it was against the law for Encore to fill out any info on my behalf. (and lets face it any nitwit can go on line and print out a secured credit card application) The fact remains that Encore financial considers that an acceptance for a credit card and is finding excuses to give me a refund. They claim I need 3 denial letters??? The story does not end here they record the application process and at one point they ask if youd like free long distance for 2 weeks to try I guess I was so tired of listening to this electronic message I said OK when I meant to say I need to know more Well this long distance company (whose customer care number I do not have and I never had the opportunity to activate even the 2 week free trial for that matter as I was preoccupied with other things in life) made 2 debits of 49.95 a peice.
So now I am out of 149.. As encore claims that is all they will refund me for costs incurred What cost? They never mailed me a darned thing!!! And I seriously doubt that it cost that much to electronically debit. And I am out two debits of 49.95 So I am out 249.00 or better... I have not a single credit card. I need this resolved and more importantly I dont like when a company rips me off with a pleasant voice and then tries to make it seem like they did me a big favor by getting me one secured credit card application (that they werent supposed to send anyway) And that would have cost me another 200 or 250 anyway and it takes 12 months to increase the credit limit to start with. They think they have me right where they want me at this moment the problem is I want the money back and I need the money back I cannot see where they have given me any type of legitamate service Please help me with this!
Also not to mention how foolish I feel and that money could have gone to one of my Children... P.S. Encore Financial refers to themselves as Credit Brokers and the only thing they accomplished was to help further hurt my finances or lack thereof
