Early in August I was contacted by a lady with a thick East Indian accent representing a credit card provider named Guardian Financial.
I listened as best I could to her speech and fell prey to the questions for my banking information.
Near the end of the call I was transferred to another person. I decided I did not want to spend the $249.00 after all and told the second person I wanted to cancel the transaction. I was told that was ok and they would give me a call in the future to see if I changed my mind.
I realized last week that my checking account had been debitted for $249.00. I have tried to contact the 866-406-4353 number I was given but I keep getting recordings and answering machines.
I searched the web for their name but did not find a website.instead I found search results leading me to usacomplaints.com. I realized then that I was not getting my money refunded by the "credit card company". Now I will report this incident to my bank and try to gain restitution through other channels.
I wish I had known about this website earlier so I could have searched for Guardian Financial while I was on the phone. Hindsight is 20/20 but at least I will be better prepared in the future.
