We received a collection notice from National Credit Audit Corporation requesting $19.97 for a subscription to "Cruising World." The letter was very official-looking, citing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. We had 30 days to pay or respond before further action would be taken.
1) We have never requested at any time a subscription to this publication.
2) We have never received an issue of this publication.
3) We have never received an original bill from "Cruising World."
If one googles this company's name, you will find numerous complaints on various consumer sites (e.G., complaints.com) detailing similar shady business practices. It appears that they send out these threatening letters with the hope that the disorganized or overwhelmed will just pay it without question.
I feel they should pay ME for wasting my time having to take the time to dispute these charges.
