We received a notice from Prescom Industries (a collection agency) on Wednesday, October 25th, for a subscription to The HR Specialist. My boss could not recall having signed anything for this company and asked me to investigate. I could not locate a phone number or address for Prescom Industries, so I phoned The HR Specialist.
I spoke with a young lady there and told her that we could not recall requesting this publication and would require written proof that it had been requested. About a half hour later, I received a fax from her. It was the top half of their subscription form. The "Bill me later" box had a check mark in it. No date or signature was present.
Imagine our surprise when the original subscription form was found on my bosses desk this morning (10/27). Blank. No signature, nothing.
PLEASE BEWARE. These people use a collection agency as a ruse to get people to sign up for their subscriptions.
Had I not been persistant in tracking this down, our company would have paid the $97 and never known about this scam.
