In late OCWEN Federal Bank, FBS (hereafter referred to as OCWEN) acquired my home loan. I started having trouble with their customer service immediately. From July to January I was on the phone with them constantly trying to prove I have hazard and flood insurance. I faxed the proof of insurance to them a dozen times or more, but they kept telling me that they wouldn't accept that proof. They needed something more. I called the insurance companies and they faxed the data to them directly. After 7 months of calling, faxing, and communicating, they finally accepted my proof of insurance. Of course, it is now August of and they have started bugging me about my insurance again, so I decided to refinance.
I went down to my local credit union to refinance, filled out the paperwork, and paid the non-refundable $500. When my credit union called me about the details, they reported to me that OCWEN's documentation shows a pre-payment penalty of $3104.31. However, my original loan documents clearly state that I do not have a prepayment penalty. I have contacted OCWEN and am waiting to hear from them, hoping that they will respond.
OCWEN has outsourced all customer service to India, so there isn't even a manager to speak with. I asked to speak with a pay-off manager today, and was told that the payoff managers have no phones, so I have to fax them. Oh, yes, and www.ocwen.com, which is the OCWEN web site doesn't work either.
