Two months ago, I found out that someone living in my home used my netspend card to make purchases online. I did NOT give this person permission to use my card. I immediately filed a dispute with Netspend. I was informed that the dispute department at Netspend would handle it immediately. Fast forward a few weeks. I received a "provisional refund" from Netspend. I thought there was no way I could lose the dispute because although the purchases were made from my card, any fool could see that the shipment was not coming to me. I found out yesterday that Netspend took the "refund" back off my card. When I called them, I was informed that I had lost the dispute. When I asked how that was possible, I was told that the merchants "validated" the purchases made. I did not dispute the fact that the purchases were made with my card. I disputed the fact that I did not AUTHORIZE the purchases. I was informed that the dispute was closed and there was nothing anyone could do. So I asked if this was how Netspend treated all their customers whose identities had basically been stolen. I was told that someone from the dispute department would contact me within 24 hours. Well, 24 hours has come and gone without a phone call.
To anyone thinking about working with Netspend, do yourself a favor. Run as far away from this company as far and as fast as you can. They will eventually screw you over, like they have so many other people. Myself included.
