Auto Debt Consulting
A complete scam

On Feb 24th i contacted a company called Auto Debt Consulting. My goal was to refinance my loan to achieve a lower monthly payment. My status at the time was challenged, i was two months behind and ready to take charge of my situation. Upon reading the website, i was confident this company could help. I contacted the company and spoke to a sales rep (go to the website, and read the career section) by the name of Joe.

Joe asked me a few questions about my situation. I was honest and made sure he new that i was two months behind and coming upon a third month. He indicated that his company was more than able to refinance my current loan and take the past due amount and include it into the new loan amount.

He assessed my situation, and concluded my cost for enrolling into his program was $500. He explained that auto debt consulting would establish dialogue with my current lender TD Auto Finance and begin the negotiation process and act as my advocate. This sounded like what i wanted, so i enrolled. A packet was sent to my email and i promptly filled the information out and returned the information.

Soon after this process, i was contacted by Jose. He introduced himself as my "processor" and was handling my account. TD auto finance apparently were inflexible in adjusting my loan. He sent me links from lending tree to fill out to find the best loan possible. I found this to be odd, since I was under the impression this is what auto debt consulting was paid to do. However, I complied. Road loans accepted my application and i completed the packet, sent the information to road loans, and soon was on my way to a new car loan with a cash back option.

Oddly, my "processor" had no idea that i had done this. I emailed a confirmation to him. As all of this is happening, i assumed that the company i paid $500 to was communicating this information to TD Auto finance. As it turns out, they were not.

On March 15th, i received an email from road loans confirming a payoff amount was on the way to TD Auto finance. I was happy needless to say. At 8AM, a repo truck took my vehicle. The agent allowed me to come out and speak with him. I was shocked. I explained to him that i was under a new finance company (Santander). He allowed me to call my Current lender (TD Auto Finance). I also called Jose at Auto Debt Consulting. All he did was give me the number to TD auto Finance and argued with me about what to do. I talked with a Ms. Roberts. She was the rep who sent the repo order. I told her what the situation was, she asked for some information about my new lender, i gave her the information, she called Santander Credit, and verified the payoff amount was en route. She explained to me that NOT ONE PERSON FROM AUTO DEBT CONSULTING CONTACTED THEM!!! She even tried to get the repo agent to leave the car, she asked the agent to contact her boss, but at the end the car was taken. MIND YOU, MY LOAN WAS APPROVED, CHECK IN MAIL, DONE DEAL, OR SO I THOUGHT!!! I called Joe at Auto Debt Consulting and gave him hell. TD auto finance was willing to actually cover the cost of the repossession ($400) and deliver the car back!!!
I called TD auto finance to see what i needed to get the car out ASAP. They instructed me to send various docs, act, including a copy of the check sent from Santander. I called road loans (aka Santander) and requested the information. When i did, they immediately informed me that they do not refinance repossessions even though they already sent the check. So no they have de funded the check claiming that they have never worked with Auto Debt Consulting (contrary to what Jose told me) and further indicated that i could have used their services without the use of their services. Furthermore, my request for refund has been denied. I paid $500 dollars to get my car repossessed.

People, i canot implore you enough, do not use these people. I foolishly wanted the easy way to deal with a tough situation and was scammed. These people are not specialist, they merely charge you, the consumer, to do the work and don't bother to establish dialogue as they indicate on their website. There is nothing they do you can't do yourself. I am currently seeking legal counsel and will file a grievance with the BBB regarding this incident. Simply put, i will not let this issue rest.
