Was sent fraudulant check foro supposed sweepstake win

I received a notice that I won a $28,500.00 prize in the 2011 Consumer's Point of Sale Sweepstake held on August 24th. There was a check included in the amount of $3797.00 with the statement that it was part of my winnings and has been sent to help cover the insurance and processing charges of $2987.32. I looked up the number for the bank listed on the check - Heartland Bank, St. Louis, MO 63105 - and called them. They informed me this was a fraudulent check and there was no such account at their bank. This was not the first time they received calls from recipients of the same letter & check.
