I, like so many others i have seen on this site saw an add in the newspaper to become a HUD/FHA tracer earining 30% of each persons refund. When i called this company i talked to "pita". She proceeded to tell me that for $98 I could recieve an information packet, and basically everything i would need to trace people from HUD and start earning $250-600 weekly.
She gave me some official websites fdaa. Gov, who she said they were registered with, (did not help me whatsoever) and jmwfinancial.com, which was a site that did not exist. All of this i did not find out until i had ALREADY given her my routing and bank acct. #!!! After i got off the phone with her, i decided to call the BBB to find out if they were legit. They are not registered with the BBB in arizona. Her excuse, "We aren't registered with the bbb because we are independant and these people that we hire work from home and the bbb does not honor that." I hung up and started searching on the internet... And alas... I find this site with all these bad reports. I immediately put a stop payment on the check and closed my bank acct.
I called Pita back the next day, she was "unavailable". I spoke with Ray. I told him that i put a stop payment on the check that i gave them and that i wanted to cancel the order. He gave me a number to call to cancel the check. To my surprise, after reading that many people could not contact this other number, i did speak with a supervisor at this number who cancelled my check. I have not had any problems since.
Unfortunately for everyone who wants their money back that tried this, i dont think that you will be able to get it. What these people are charging you for was the information that they sent you and for the "training fee".
The real truth about this is (because i called HUD and spoke with a rep.) is that there is such a thing as a third party tracer. You can trace people and get them thier refunds and HUD will send you SOME information on this for free.
BUT the thing is once you get a hold of these people that are owed refunds, if they decide NOT to pay you the 30% processing fee for you finding them and doing all the paperwork, they can just call HUD and get thier refund in full at no charge to them. So in truth, you CAN make money doing this, but on the other hand it could just be a waste of time for you if these people decide to call HUD themselves for the refund. There is NO guarantee that you will get any money.
Anyone still interested please call HUD directly and they will tell you what you need to know. I have found some other people who only charge $15 for the information but to be safe go through HUD, and not someone who has the information and is trying to make money by selling it to you. I am sorry that i did not come across this information sooner to let everyone who has been affected know what the deal is. But hopefully this will help anyone who thinks that they still might want to give it a try.
