While waiting for an insurance settlement I fell behind on my mortgage payments. Aurora quickly sent me foreclosure papers. When I called them to work out a re-payment plan they asked for double payments every month. They tried to make it impossible for me to keep the house.
I made the first double payment and a week later received a letter from their lawyers (federman and feely) stating that they needed full repayment in 10 days or a sheriffs sale would take place. I called aurora back to see what happened to my repayment plan and they said I violated it by paying 1 day late.
To make a long story short it took me three weeks of calling the lawyers and aurora to get the total amount needed to pay to become current. They tacked on over 2,100 in fees including 750 dollars for aurora's foreclosure aquisition fee, 750.00 for the lawyers fee and over 700.00 for the lawyers paper work.
How do they get away with it!
