State Farm Insurance
Ripoff dishonest and unreliable

This is how it began. My ex-fiance (we were together at the time) and I bought a car together and well, when you buy a car, you need full coverage. So, we continued with the carrier of insurance we had, State Farm Insurance. We had problems with it off and on, but overall it seemed to be affordable considering our age.

Then came the day that we had broken up and I had to start my own policy on the same car. I had just figured that since I never had any major problems before with them, I shouldn't have any this time. Apparently I was wrong. Since the beginning of this new policy, I have had nothing but problems.

To start with I was told that if I do an auto pay (they automatically take the payment out of my checking), it would save me a lot of money. I thought it would be a great idea and I wouldn't have to worry about my payments getting in on time and again, it did save me money. I agreed to this and gave them a downpayment on Feb. 6 to start up the policy.

I then recieve a bill on Feb. 17 stating that I was going to have an auto payment of nearly $80.00 more than what I was suppose to be paying on this policy. Immediately, I was on the phone with my local agent. She helped me out and got everything taken care of, but told me that I would have to come into the office in order to make a payment (which was still higher than my original payment). I didn't get too worried about it and just went in there and made the payment.

On March 19, I recieved another bill that said my payment would be automatically taken out. I just assumed that it had been taken out until I got my next bill on April 19.
This bill was nearly $100.00 more than what my payment was suppose to be.

At this point I am furious. I want to know what the heck is going on because of the previous problems I had been having. So, I called immediately that night. I talked to a female and asked her what is going on. She had no clue, she said she would have my agent call me. The next day I called my agents office (for they never returned my call) and wanted to know why I had to pay so much more. Nobody could answer my questions.

So, finally I called the Bloomington office (the main one). The woman I talked to explained to me that my auto payment had not been taken out in March so I was paying for two months in one. I was okay with this. I knew I had to pay either way. I was just getting frustrated that I was having to contact my agent every month since my policy started because something was screwed up.

Well, May 11 rolls around and I get a notice that my policy will be canceled on May 26 because I have failed to pay.

HELLO! I have auto pay and THEY never took them out, it became their responsibility the day I signed the paper and agreed to have them do this. It is their fault and THEY want to cancel my policy? Not only do they want to cancel it, they want to charge me and extra $380.00!

To me this sounds a little screwed up. I have done nothing but be patient and nothing seems to become of it. This should have never happened. I did nothing wrong. State Farm had their money, they chose not to take it.

So, to anybody out there thinking of choosing State Farm Insurance, think again. They don't care about you, they only care about money. Keep your eyes open and if it seems messed up in the beginning, it will probably be for the remaining of the policy.

Because of them I have had nothing but stress since February. Not only the stress of them, but the stress of finding a different insurance company I can trust.
