Credit Express/First American
"Bait & Switch" Mastercard Scam

Please see letter I sent to my bank requesting a investigation of Credit Express debit against my account:

The Purpose of this message is to request an investigation on a fraudulent debit by a Credit Express, Inc. On 11/15/01 to my bank account.

The amount unlawfully charged against my account was $149.00.

They charged me for a service and product (MasterCard with a $1500 - $2500 limit - guaranteed), and did not deliver.

They sent me a letter of "Approval" for a MasterCard with a limit up to $1000. However, I would have to pay another $59 - $79 to actually get the card, and a $500 reservation fee that will totally use up all available credit on the card.)

Apparently, that's the limit they have guaranteed me not the $1500 - $2500 as promised by Bobbie (the sales agent I spoke with initially.) Bobbie promised me that this was not a scam, I would get a MasterCard with a limit between $1500 - $2500, and that there would be no reservation or any other kind of "hidden" fees.

I asked her these questions initially because I am aware of the many credit card scams out there, and wanted to feel confident they were legitimate before I spent the money.

They were not only dishonest with me upfront before I gave them permission to debit my bank account, but when I tried to reason with their Customer Service Representative, she refused to give me a refund. She also denied that the information the Sales Representative gave me was what I stated.

This is what is called a "bait and switch". They tell you one thing to get you hooked, and try to deliver something totally different. And, they deny what was initially said by their Sales Reps. She further stated that she couldn't be held accountable for what someone in Sales said. I told her that she could as long as she was representing the company.

Consumers Beware of this Scam. Credit Express/First American
You will not get what you paid for or was promised and you will loose what you paid for service upfront.
