My husband and I signed up with Jubilee in Aug. Of 2001. There is an initial start up fee of $299. Then each month they automatically deduct $225 from our checking account. The monies they deduct each month is suppose to go in a "TRUST ACCOUNT", when you get enough money in here they negotiate with your creditors. Also they are suppose to send out a power of attorney to tell creditors they are no longer able to contact you directly.
They also state that you will receive a statement of account each month on what is going on with your money.
OK, so let me start. I was getting calls everyday from my creditors wanting a payment. I called Jubilee to see what was going on and was not able to even get anyone to answer the phone, so I emailed them.
They NEVER emailed me back. I got really worried so I started calling again. Finally I got through but was sent to someone's voice mail, I marked my call URGENT and NEVER received a call back. This goes on for months. Finally I get a phone call from one of my creditors stating that if I don't make a payment my credit will be history! I call Jubilee again. No call back. I call again and finally I get someone and she transfers me to someone else and so on. I finally got to Velia and at this point I am ready to cancel with them. She informs me it will cost me $250 to cancel with them.
I went on to mention I had statements from my creditors that Jubilee NEVER contact them in any way, shape, or form!!! She told me my creditors were lieing and that they sent out a power of attorney on Sept. 2. NOT TRUE because the week before I did speak to Oscar and he told me it was not sent out yet and he would mark it URGENT.
She then proceeded to tell me they have been really busy because they are getting our files from an Arizona comp. That we origanlly signed up with. She is in Calif. That is why they hadn't sent it out yet. I told her this was not my fault and I wanted my money back because they had not done anything for me! She then told me to send in a cancellation letter, which I did. I called her the next day and she hadn't even gotten to that yet! She told me she would give it to the president to review and he would have the last say. I called the next day, NO CALL BACK. She then called me the next day and said I would not be receiving any money back, she left this on my answering machine. I then immediately called her and she didn't take my call so I left another message and NO CALL BACK. I called the next day and NO CALL BACK.
THey have taken money out of my pocket to fatten theirs and have done NOTHING for it!!! I don't think this would have been an issue if they had kept their part of the contract!!! I am seeking legal advice and will pursue this HARD!
In all in the 4 months I have been with Jubilee I have paid them, $749 for themselves and $225 that is supposedly in my "TRUST ACCOUNT". Alltogether that is $974 out of my pocket!!!
If I had $749 to give them I would have paid my bills!!! I was ABSOLUTELY mislead and RIPPED OFF!!! Please get into contact with me if you have been RIPPED OFF by Jubilee Financial Serv. The funny thing is I have documented EVERYTHING and my creditors will provide proof that Jubilee did not contact them as they stated!!! I will not be taken advantage of!!!
