Hello, I was researching health insurance on the internet. My husband recently was laid off from his job and we lost our health insurance coverage. We needed to find a coverage that would cover our prescriptions. Our prescriptions that we are prescribed are very expensive. (our last insurance priority health covered them with no issues). A gentleman by the name of Mike called in response to my request for information on the internet. I had explained to him that the sole puporse of wanting health insurance was for prescription coverage. He stated that he would check to make sure that the prescriptions were on were covered. He put me on hold and came back stating that they were. I even asked him additional times in the phone call to make sure mine and my husbands prescriptions were covered. He kept promising me they were. The plan that I was signing up for was with Homeland Health Insurance, Markel Insurance Company. He said my prescriptions were covered and for brand names (which they both are) they would be 24 dollars. The insurance was rather expensive so I believed everything he had said. They had taken money out of my checking account in the amount of 498.00 which included an enrollment fee of 99.00. The insurance was going to be 399.00 a month.
I recieved a packet in the mail and went over it. The packet was completely different than what Mike had promised on the phone. I went to the pharmacy to try to get my prescriptions with the card they had sent me. When I first arrived she took my card and it didn't go through. I called the number on my card and they said it was a fluke they couldn't fix and if i had them run it again, it would go through. It did. Come to find out neither of my prescriptions had been covered.in fact they wanted around 1000 dollars for both of them. The prescriptions that I take our very vital and with out them I become very ill. I called Mikes office and a receptionist answered stating he was on a phone call took my information and would have him call me back. He did and said he would take care of everything for me and he would call back in 15 min. He kept throwing me off and delaying our phone call each time we spoke. He finally said I will call you first thing tomorrow morning. I waited until noon. No phone call. I called him. He answered and said give him a half hour and he would call me back. He called a little over an hour later (which i missed) and did not leave a message. I called him right back. He then stated there is no insurance that would cover your prescriptions. I spoke with numerous customer service representives, billing department, and othe reps, but still don't have a refund. Everyone keeps saying it is in progress. I figure I could use the 498 to put towards my prescriptions. I was extremely sick at this point with no way to get them filled. I wil figure that out, but I feel this Mike was in the wrong and should have to pay for them himself which is silly to think he would. As a matter of fact i called the office wanting to speak to a manager and he answered the receptionists desk. He said what can I help you out with Amy. I told him I wanted to speak to a manager. He hung up on me.in the progress of the phone hanging up. He said "GOD, that girl is upset!" then the call ended. I'm out my money, my prescriptions, and insurance.
