For the second time in two weeks AMEX has interpreted my purchasing habits as "fraudulent type behavior" This first event resulted in my card being refused for a $100 purchase immediately after a $400 authorized purchase FROM THE SAME vendor! Two weeks ago when I purchased $400 in items for US Marines in Afghanistan and then a $100 purchase of phone home cards for the same group. I complained and was assured this would not happen again.
Today I purchased a computer at Apple and then twenty minutes later I went to Nordstrom's and purchased three gift cards for my friends and AGAIN they stopped the transaction, Nordstrom's staff took custody of the card and AMEX called my cell phone for "possible fraud activity AGAIN! We pay off the card every month, have a credit rating above 800 and these people seem to be adept at only one thing, not allowing 2nd charges on the same day! I hate the embarrassment and have made a conscious effort NOT to use AMEX.
AMEX "supervisors" on the security call in line say they are just "protecting" me from fraud. That's just bull, they are protecting AMEX and driving business away. I run $50-$100,0000 a year through this card but NO MORE. I am tired of being treated like a third class citizen by these people!
