LoanDepo.com Mortgage Refinance Ripoff

August 10th at about 4:00pm I received an email that the company "LoanDepo.com redid our mortgage contract saying we needed to now put in an additional $3,865.09 out of our pocket, the loan was to be finalized and signed on Friday, August 12th. Shortly after Erik Chavez called to say he needed to talk with me about the loan I was in a meeting and he said he would call me back in an hour. After an hour and a half I called him. I was unwilling to pay the additional funds or increase our loan and said I would like our deposit of $495 back since they had stated that it was refundable if the problem was on their side but not if I gave inaccurate information. All my information was accurate so I wanted the $495 deposit back. Erik said it was the fault of the bank that held my current Mortgage, Wells Fargo, for holding back funds to pay the taxes in escrow, and that he did not have the authority to refund my
deposit. When I asked to speak to his manager he checked and said she was away from her desk but her purse was still there so shed call me backI think she said her name was Pam. Erik said that Sean Morales that had originally set up the loan had the authority and he would also notify him
additionally. After waiting a while I realize I had Seans number and called directly. Sean also tried to convince me and we ended a long conversation with him saying hed check into what they could do
with the loan and would call me back tomorrow. The next day at about 9:00 I got a call from another
individual, dont remember his name but it wasnt Eriks manager or Sean. He tried to convince me and said the deposit was non-refundable he blamed the lower than expected appraisal on why
they wanted the extra $3,865.09 but that he would try to reduce the loan to make it work. At this point with their changes in amounts and story I just wanted my deposit back and that the
appraisal did not include our pool or our solar panels and compared us with a home on a lot half of our size lot and with homes with less bedrooms. I told him that the appraiser was in a hurry saying he needed to go out of town and since after talking with me that I only needed $200,000 that he could even appraise it for only $300,000 and the loan would go through. I said please dont and he said dont worry its not like an appraisal for selling the home, hed find a couple of comparison houses and that would be that.in the end of the day we're short $495 and with nothing to show for it but a lot of wasted time and energy.
