I took out a loan with Citifinancial so that I could make rent on the duplex that I live in. I was 8 months pregnant at the time, and they were very kind and understanding when I went to the office to sign the papers. Everything went smoothly, and I was able to make my payments as scheduled. I had my baby, and due to unforseen expenses, I was unable to make payments as regularly as I had been. I made payments when I could, and I often spoke to Shamika there at the office. I had to sign up with a debt counseling company to help out with my debts, and everything was still going smoothly, that is when the problems started.
The debt counseling place sent the payment to Citifinancial, and I thought everything was fine, until I got home to check my messages over 2 weeks after the first payment was sent. Citifinancial had called to say that they couldn't accept payment from the counseling company. They never refunded the payment, and they demanded more money from me. I tried to make the payment as I could. They still kept receiving the payments from the counseling company, and still insisted that I give them more.
Recently, I had been called out of state to Wyoming to be with my grandmother in her last few days of life (she was losing her fight with brain and bone cancer). I was unable to make my payment to Citifinancial before I left, seeing as how I caught a red-eye flight, and the little money I had needed to be used for the plane tickets for my baby and myself I got home just today to check my phone messages to find a message from our Dear Old Shamika. She said to me that "Avoiding this problem isn't helping... Etc., etc." She had very rudely, insensitivly, and wrongly accused me of trying to avoid my situation. It wasn't like I wasn't trying to make the payments, and they know it.
I am now filing for bankruptcy. I was very un-impressed with their treatment of me (like I was a low life).
