Delay, excuses and runaround upon request for payoff quote

I have tried to refinance my mortgage since 2007 and was told repeatedly one reason after another why we didn't qualify, income, credit history, loan to value ratio. Of course, by the time there was any more income and/or credit history, the loan to value ratio was off due to the real estate bubble bursting.

Now we have arranged a private loan and want to sever all ties to Wells Fargo. We requested a payoff quote on May 25. Wells Fargo didn't get around to processing the request until June 3.

We made several phone calls inquiring about the whereabouts of the letter and when we could expect it. We were told it could only be mailed or faxed. Each time I was told to call back after 7-10 business days (even after 10 business days had passed).

Eventually I was told my request would be reprocessed and expedited. Still no fax/letter. I was told I could suddenly be given the information over the phone if we didn't get the letter by today. When I called today, June 21, I was told they still had no quote for me and they were unable to contact any of the mysterious "processors" who "calculate" these quotes.

I still have no letter and another mortgage payment will be due in 9 days. Coincidence?

If this is how Wells Fargo treats their customers (and disabled veterans) they should be investigate and fined if not shut down.
