(Indian Scammers) Threatened to arrest me to pay off a payday loan I never had

I have read several reports on this site regarding Cash Net Marketing which now appears to be Indian (Eastern) Scammers. I have received two calls at work (and I work at a police department) advising that I have been found guilty of criminal charges for theft and that I will be arrested on Monday morning at 10am if I do not come up with the money I owe them. First of all, we in law enforcement don't tell people when we plan to arrest them!

He claimed to be an attorney going my the name Attorney Garrett Jones and that I made a payday loan with his client and never paid it back. He claimed that money was deposited into my account in December. I advised this was a mistake because I closed that bank account in November. I made the same mistake many have made and did a payday loan over the Internet with all my information. However, I paid off my loan and that was the end of that.

I later found out that some payday loan places got hacked and a lot of our information was stolen by these scammers. Now they are using it against us. Keep in mind there are a lot of people who will do what they tell them when threatened to be arrested. He also told me to hire an attorney and either I paid him $412.36 now or $10,000 at court! I was so ticked off that he would insult my intelligence. I went to my bank and talked with them and they told me it was a ripoff and they feared someone had stolen my identity. They advised to pull my credit report, which I did, to make sure nothing looked fishy.

All is okay there but this is the second time I have received this call at work from a 201-243-8043 (we have caller ID at the police department). I later called him back and told him what my bank said and he got very beligerent with me and said bank statements are no longer used as evidence. What an idiot! Get the h*ll out of the USA! I am filing a fraud report with my detectives and I encourage anyone else who has been victim to this scam to do the same thing. Remember, they have our personal information.
